DCombus Iris shdsl technology in Radio Base Station Backhaul connections9.6.2008. Growth in 3G applications and need of Ethernet over Copper solutions move hand in hand 3G technology and new applications in the mobile phone networks are in rapid growth. This means that the E1 technology used in 2G era is not scalable enough to meet the growing demand of high data traffic. Thus the trend is that E1 technology in mobile phone networks will be replaced with packet based IP Ethernet technology. DCombus Ethernet over Copper products offer a solution to this high traffic need in base station backhaul connections. With Iris shdsl products the existing copper cable infrastructure can be utilized efficiently. Design Combus Ltd. has been delivering Iris products to mobile phone network base station backhaul applications since spring of 2008. Iris shdsl products have Ethernet connection, and offer symmetrical speed from 2Mbps to 44Mbps with one or more copper pairs. The latency in Iris products is low, which also makes its highly suitable for VoIP, data and video applications. 26.6.2009
